I hope that your semesters have gone well!

I am writing to let you know of volunteer opportunities which may work well for weekend schedules.

Please let me know if you are interested in any of the opportunities, or if you would like more information.  You can view additional volunteer opportunities on the MJF website, www.mnjustice.org.

Thank you,
Sara

1.  5/17-20 Renters in Foreclosure Campaign

Great opportunity to get directly involved in the community!

Law student volunteers are needed to educate and inform Hennepin County renters in foreclosed properties of their rights. A door-knocking campaign across the county will take place May 17th through May 20th, from 5pm to 8pm in the evening.

Students will be trained on canvassing and substantive mortgage law before being paired up and sent into the field. Students may volunteer for one or more evenings.

A mandatory training session will occur from 4pm to 5pm on May 17th at the University of St. Thomas Law School.

2.  Pro Se Dissolution Clinics

One day volunteer opportunities

Students will work with pro se clients at legal services offices at various locations in greater MN, helping the litigants fill out dissolution forms with the assistance of a private attorney. Students will gain experience in family law, client interaction, and court forms.

Two hour training will be provided by MJF. Date and time will be scheduled based upon students' schedules.  MJF will also assist in arranging car pools.

Locations and dates include:

Mankato        5/11, 6/8, 7/13, 8/10

Albert Lea      6/9

Worthington   6/16
